that's literally a sequel to the 99 series
the only similarity is that they brought omnimon back because the show doesn't have confidence enough to make a compelling story and the higher ups just decides "eh fuck it let's show them the most popular digimon day 1"

They literally copied the plot from the movie, and episode 2 even shares the name, all they did was change how the virus type digimon and Diaboromon look.
